1. The hardest thing about making the video was editing and finding a time to meet. We all have such busy schedules that finding a time to meet and film became a little difficult. The editing process was also a little difficult because we had never worked with imovie before, but luckily it was easy to learn.
2. Coming up with the ideas and writing the script was exciting. We had so many ideas that the thought of putting them together and creating a movie from them made the whole project an enjoyable experience.
3. Film production is very hard. Everything has to be perfect and every scene is different from the last. Group work can be hard especially with everyone’s very different schedules. When we were meeting and figuring out exactly what we were doing with the movie we also had to find time to film everything without having to rearrange our prior commitments. Finally, it was also hard to find people to star in our movie. There were not many people who were willing to put on a skintight green suit and walk around outside or into the cafeteria. Luckily, after much begging, we found three people who were willing to help us film our movie.
4. We did not realize that there were so many things Champlain College was doing in order to sustain the environment. The low flow showerheads were something that shocked me because they are not advertised to the school. Even though water is a renewable resource it is important to conserve the amount of water used. The green roof helps to better insulate the IDX center, thus saving Champlain College money on heating and cooling. We also learned that Champlain College and the “Sustain Champlain” project have not stopped working hard to make Champlain a greener community and will continue to add to the list to help us live light on the land.
